Thumbs up Challenge 2 - Learn a Falseta

Ok peoples here is Challenge #2....

Learn a Falseta!

- Any Falseta will do as long is as it is something new to you. Not something you were already working on. Just something new that is interesting to you or you always wanted to tackle.

- REALLY LEARN IT! Don't cheat yourself by saying... "I think I got it..." or "Ah.. I got the hang of it..." Learn it, Embed it in your long term memory, Etch it in to your library of Falseta's... Make it so you don't even think about the Falseta, but your fingers just play it...

- BONUS POINTS: For you over achievers... write your own original Falseta. Master it and fold it into your current repertoire.

Again the honesty system goes into play here, if you say you did it then you did it. But if you cheat, you only cheat yourself.

Keep us posted on your learning progress and if you get stuck post your questions here so we can all help.

SUPER EXTRA BONUS: Once you mastered the new Falseta record it in MP3 or video and share it with us!

Have fun and let's see/hear those Falseta's!

Great Idea! So I am going to learn a Diego del Gastor falseta por Soleares. I wrote my first flamenco falseta yesterday, por seguiryas. Which I will post soon.

Default My First Falseta

Ok so here's my seguiriyas falseta, the first bit of flamenco I have written (except the rasgueos and remate at the end, of course . It's very simple, which I think is a good place to start. I'd really appreciate your honest opinions

I started learning the Diego soleares falseta today, so far so good. I can play it, just, at about 60bpm

nice work dreadgod! i'd add a little more dynamics and clean up those rasgueos at the end, but that's about it.

how long have you been playing for?

Thanks guys! I've been playing flamenco for a year and a half now, I played guitar before but only with a pick. I think rasgueos are definitely the hardest thing for me to learn. I'll keep playing with that falseta and see where it progresses
No playing for me today though, I work part-time as a cook and I have found that practicing and then a long day working with my hands brings on tendinitis after awhile, which is no fun

I've trained entirely in French and Italian cuisines, I dabble in others like Chinese and Indian, but with little authenticity, I suspect.....

Looking forward to a good practice session today after I get some school work out of the way (or off my conscience...
