Inspired from watching Encuentro DVD of Gerardo Nunez, the new challenge is to post your thumb (pulgar) practice routine and share with us...
The pulgar is essential in Flamenco playing, most (I know I did) obsessed about picado speed, but a strong and fast pulgar can really make your falseta stand out... Here is one of the first practice routines for Pulgar that was taught to me a very long time ago, starts on the first fret and moves up the neck. You can do single, double, triples, etc... and build strong clean notes. Also focus on keeping the movement coming from the wrist instead of the joints from your thumb. e ---1-------------1----------------------------------- a -----2---------2------------------------------------- d -------3-----3-------------------------------------- g ---------4-4----------------------------------------- b ---------------------------------------------------- e ---------------------------------------------------- Hope this helps, look forward to seeing your Pulgar routines! ![]() |
