Default Fortunately there are so many

It well depends on my mood (with the exception of number 1):

1. Paco de Lucia - going beyond personal preferences or taste, I genuinely believe that the flamenco guitar is what it is thanks to this artist. People talk a lot about his fabulous technique, ability to take other musics and "aflamencarlas", etc. However, there is one element to me that makes him the first figure of the flamenco guitar ever and that is his endless imagination when playing and composing falsetas.

2. Vicente Amigo - I don't like half the tracks on his recordings as they're too commercialised. However, when he sits down, grabs the guitar and starts playing he has a voice of his own. I saw him in concert and he is in my modest opinion the best of his generation. That and also that he introduced me to flamenco guitar ("forcing" me to exchange my first guitar, an electric one that I had only played for two months, for an Admira).

3. Tomatito - duende personified.

Honorable mention: Moraito, Paco Peña, Manolo Sanlucar, Gerardo Nuñez, Niño Ricardo and so many more...

My preference lies with the traditional players who take it to the limit. I love the modern stuff too but prefer the trad.

1. Victor Monge Serranito
2. Paco Peña
3. Pepe Romero
4. Paco de Lucia
5. Tomatito
6. Vicente Amigo

Excellent choices! Glad to see Diego del Gastor on it. Nice that there are some exceptions to the Lucia, Tomatito, Amigo triad which is so ubiquitous.

my list:
1. Diego del Gastor (and his nephews Paco and Juan)
2. Pepe Habichuela
3. Nino Ricardo

I'm going to split my favorites into 3 categories:

Traditional: Sabicas, Niño Ricardo, Paco Peña

Modern: Of course, the usuals, but a few more...Chicuelo, Pepe Justicia, Juan Carmona

Newer Generation: Jesus de Rosario, Carlos Piñana, José Manuel León

There are so many more, but these are just a few stand-outs in my humble opinion!!
