I've used Luthier brand, when I can find them. Very good indeed, and endorsed by Tomatito!

I think the best strings are the LaBella flamenco series strings. especially the ones with the black nylons.

I'm trying La Bella's at the moment. Red trebles... So far I like them.. I must try some black one next to see the difference.

I have used Luthier strings for years, as they came installed on my Lester deVoe guitars. I did switch from the 20 set (Paco de Lucia's choice) to the 35 set, a little heavier and darker as is my taste. I play some classical pieces and some jazz as well, so I like a string with body. The D'Addarios are good, and the composite 3rd works well, but the Luthiers are very consistent in tone.

the de voe sounds nice! lucky you. agree with the luthier string response however maybe this thread should be 'favourite flamenco guitar strings' as one thing is certain they're really is nothing or no-one that could be described as 'the best'....take care out there.

Ron jazz:
How would you compare the Luthier 35s to Luthier 20s and 30s on your DeVoe? Are you using full sets or just the basses? I found the 20s to be wonderfully complex, but the trebles were thin. Also, I am interested in get more volume. I find that I can drive the 20s only so hard before they stop getting any louder. Do you have any recommendations in that regard for a DeVoe Negra? I've received recommendations for Savarez Corum/Alliance sets, which I have on order. On another guitar, I found carbon trebles to be thin and lacking in fundamentals. |

"I also heard a lot about Lisa Strings. Has anyone tried these?"
Falseta: I tried them. The windings on the D and A strings separated at the saddle when I was winding them up to tension. The 2nd time, I had to lift the strings with my right hand above the saddle when tuning up. I don't think that you can do that easily if you had pegs. Sounded okay. Inexpensive. But I think that there are other alternatives. |

Above, somone says they like Luthier brand but don't even mention the model number. Not a terribly useful recommendation, IMHO. While these threads are limited in usefulness as it's mostly subjective opinion and the variable of the guitars makes things even less sure, adding in descriptive reviews and letting us know at the very minimum if it's a blanca or negra would help greatly (even better to tell us more details like "german spruce and spanish cypress"). |

I have read this thread and I haven't seen much on Hannanbach strings. I've just bought a High Tension set upon recommendation of my teacher. He claims they sound more "flamenco" than the D'Addario I was using. Thoughts?
Have mercy on me, I'm only playing for a few months after 10 years and previously I only had a beginner-intermediate level. |

not much of a discernible difference, imo. awesome trebles though. it was really easy to get that "moorish" sound with the thumb.
