A long time Savarez string user here and have dealt with dead strings after a few days of playing.
What guitar string brand do you use and how long does it take before you have dead strings? Do you prefer a certain set for performance and another for home? Thanks. |

I used to use Savarez, but they were hard to get for awhile, so I experimented with a lot of strings and eventually settled on D'Addario Pro-Arte EJ45 Normal Tension with a Sararez plastic wound G (clear nylon on the G string has always sounded dead to me for flamenco).
This arrangement sounds great on both my 1988 Yauri classical and my 1971 Sobrinos de Esteso. They last very well and break in very quickly, too. Bob Weisenberg |

Thanks Bob!
Going to Guitar Center today. I will look for the D'Addario EJ45 strings. I have tried LaBella's before and found them to be worse than the Savarez. Thanks again for the suggestion! |

Guitar Center had the EJ45 strings in stock! But they didnt have the Savarez 520F with the wound G string. I am going to play this weekend and will post back on my thoughts on the D'Addario string.
Thanks again Bob! |

You might have to hunt around for the Savarez plastic wound, especially since you're not buying the sets. Let me know if you can't find them and I'll dig up where I last bought them. It was quite a while ago, though. Last time I found them I bought a lot of them.

I use for a long time D'addario EJ 46 hard tension.
Allways reliable, I perform two times with them, and then I shuffle the three bass strings down to use the "clean" part of the string for another time. So I use them for three weeks. On my other guitars I use them about two months before changing. Payul |

Wow thats two recommendations for D'addario!
@Payul - I will keep my eyes out for the EJ-46 strings next time I go to the music store. Thanks for the recommendation. |
