I used to play a piece by nino ricardo called memories of seville but have forgotten most of it. Is the tab for this available? I know Riqueni does it on his CD "Maestros" but I havent heard the CD. Its got a moorish sound and a beautiful tremolo section which moves quite fast suggesting it may be a three finger tremolo....anyone familiar with this piece? peter

I have here the recording from Riqueni, maybe it will help you.
I am pretty sure on this recording it is a 4 finger tremolo ( flamenco way)

Wow, that's a very interesting piece. It sounds like something terrible must have happened to him in Seville No, I kid.
I wonder what palo you would put this under, or is it just an experimental thing? The closest thing it sounds like to me is maybe a Zambra. It sounds very ahead of his time.

I think it is a Rondeña.
Tuned D-A-D-F#-B-E.

Thanks for the recording I will tab it again. I used to play it in the late 1980,s when I saw paco pena play it at a concert in Sydney. He used a dropped D but not the F sharp. Regards Peter

Okay, so it is not a Rondena, do you know what it is Peter?
I do not think Paco Pena ever recorded it....If you tab it, is it a possibility for you to post it here? I shure would like to learn it!

The parts that did have a clear rhythm were in 4/4 which made me think Zambra (or Danza Mora) but I think its really more of a pure creation.

Ok I will post it when I work it out. riqueni plays it a fair bit slower than ricardo and some of his harmonies sound more modern but it still has the original feel...very nice...cheers

@ Deteresa, You won the quiz!
It is a pure creation.

I contacted my frend "el Payo Humberto" about this, he studied with Niño Ricardo and wrote also a book about him. The man has a whole library about Nino Ricardo.

He told me that it is not a specific palo, but that Ricardo wrote it during the Spanish civil war, when he was hold by force of cicumstance in Jaen and he was thinking with melancholy about his birth city Sevilla.

Also Humerto told me that he did not knew about any tab.

For whom is interested, El payo Humberto has a lot of nice youtube stuff, and a website with nice things
here is a link.
