Hi Brian, your uncle builds a great flamenco guitar. For the past 3 months I've been building my first guitar, a copy of John's guitar #78. It's in the finishing stages now and almost done.

I'm playing a...

well..it's not even a flamenco guitar... it kind of looks like a classical guitar but it's in horrible shape. It's like 30 years old so for me any guitar is fine for any style

Default Jeff Sigurdson 2009 Blanca

I am playing a Jeff Sigurdson 2009 blanca. sitka spruce top, cypress b&s. It is a glorious instrument and I love playing it. I have only had it 5 months but the sound has already started to grow. I highly recommend this luthier

That looks like a very nice guitar! beautiful top.
Nice to have a brand new guitar, the adventure from playing in, getting used to it, discover things, even after a few years is very nice, and make the guitar a real personal instrument that fits like a glove over time..

From my Dad I inherited a guitar made by Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso in 1944. He was in the foreign service, and while stationed in Nanking in 1948 the guitar was slightly damaged by a bomb blast in a nearby room. He sent it back to Spain and they repaired it for free. It's been through the wars - literally - but still sounds good. My favorite guitar to play flamenco on.

I recently bought a Cordoba 45FCG (or 45FC6?), a cutaway acoustic-electric guitar. It has the tapping plates both R and L of strings and is designated a flamenco guitar. I bought it in part because I didn't have any guitars with pickups and I thought it would be good to have amplification capability for some occasions, rather than relying on a mike. I'm still getting used to it..

I also have a guitar by Antonio Hernandis. It's a classical guitar but I put a tapping plate on it and have used it often for flamenco. Like a lot of Spanish guitars, it's pretty loud, I have to tone down a bit when playing flamenco on this one.
