Default Maple flamenco guitars

Hi All!

In the past, a lot of flamenco guitars where made with maple sides and backs.
Anybody knows the different compared to rosewood or cypresse?

you thinking about getting maple for your next guitar too? it sure does look nice, huh?

i remember reading somewhere that it's like in between rosewood and cypress.

i found this sound clip of a maple guitar.

Thanks for that link!

Sounds very nice, Yes, a bit between Blanca and Negra, you could say that......nice....
I think if i get another guitar, yes, maple is an option.......need to now more about it I think.
I like the look from a striped maple a lot, not so the curly one, it is a bit too fancy for my taste

I found another, on a japanese website, a Gerundino, if i hear the soundsample on the page, it sounds more "blanca"than my "blanca........I do not really like it.
What do you think about it?
The back looks very nice though!

yeah, i love the flamed, striped, tiger look. it looks ferocious and yet sweetly seductive at the same time.

that gerundino is a bit dark for me. i like guitars that are really pale or have a nice golden tint.
soundwise, it's hard to judge. so much depends on the player, the maker, the recording. but overall, it did not move me either.

do you have a specific luthier in mind? is there one nearby?

Well, the first that I think of is Anders Eliasson, I have a negra from him, very very nice guitar.
I played several blanca's from him, very nice too, but for my taste and playing stile a bit too blanca.
( I play a bit old school Paco Peña stile).

So, if a Maple is between a blanca and a negra, it might be very nice.

Maybe i must explain a bit more....On every negra I played, I hear a different in tone from the lower 3 strings and the higher 3 strings. Like the sound tembre is from two different guitars.
Like a grand piano, the high tones ring like bells, and the lower tones sound like a contrabass.

Blanca's, in my ears anyway, does not have it, the lower 3 strings sound as if they are from the same instrument as the high strings. ( the same sound tembre)

Do any of you have that experiance too?

i haven't had enough experience with different flamenco guitars to hear it for myself, but i certainly understand what you are saying.

from what i've heard through his videos, ander's blancas are bright and explosive. i really like that sound. but maybe you prefer something more tame?

when do you plan to get the guitar?

Well, I have not decide to take another guitar......the Negra I have is 2 years old, and opening up very nice.....
I am just curious how Maple would sound. And if the wood from the back and sides is all that importand.....

you guys are making me want to get a new guitar... I have a very bright guitar... so a nice deeper sound would be great... right now my guitar is really light... a nice heavy solid feeling negra would be cool... will also be looking for maple just to see what it is like!

@ falseta, What is the maker of the guitar?

If we all lived in the same aeria, we could borrow a bit eachothers guitar....., for a month or so, to get used to it and get a good picture what you like or dislike..

A kind of a library for guitars....a guitarary, or borrow-a-guitar
