Do you know of anyone who does this? I have heard of it in the past -- from Flamenco musicians that want to achieve a fuller sound. Is this a commonplace occurrence?

Hi Conor,
I do not think there are a lot of flamenco guitarists who play on a classican guitar....Manolo Sanlucar is the only one I can think of, but he plays with a lower flamenco bridge, so you could say a clasical guitar with a flamenco setup.... Payul Last edited by Payul; 07-14-2010 at 11:56 PM. |

Hi Conor, there are musicians who perform with classically made guitars that have been modified (i.e. lower action and installed golpeador, fret work, thinned top, etc.) to facilitate crossover playing without having to switch instruments. Adam del Monte is a good example. Great flamenco and classical player who will play both genres in the same concert with the same guitar. I play both classical and flamenco also, and have a "hybrid" guitar, but I prefer to use a true flamenco for most of my playing, no matter the genre. If you want the raw grit and passion of flamenco, it's hard to beat a true flamenco guitar!!
