Hey everyone!
My guitar teacher just introduced me to Solea today, so I know the basic chords and the remate and how to utilize it... But I forgot one minor thing one of the most important things from my lesson, what key is Solea generally in? I could always write it in the Key of F but I would probably make it sound more like Bulerias than a Solea... (Even though Solea is related to Bulerias) I want to make it as traditional as possible! Also, I am planing on going above and beyond even though I don't know much about Solea yet, is there anything I should know about writing Solea falsetas? I can't simply cannot wait for my next lesson, so you guys will be my teacher for now Haha! Thanks! ![]() |

Solea is in the key of E phrygian. Same notes as A minor and C major so you can use those scales as well.
So if you want tradition, the most common is E phrygian. However, often you will hear solea in A phrygian (the typical key of bulerias, solea por bulerias, tangos, etc.) A phrygian has the same notes as F major and D Minor. A lot of singers sing way high up on the freboard. Around 6-7 fret. So it's good to have a lot of first position falsetas. E phyrgian is commonly called "por arriba" while A phrygian is commonly called "por medio." So a Solea in A could be refered to as "solea por medio." This is very handy to know.
