hi evans,
picado is always played apoyando. it wouldn't be picado if it was played tirando, at least in the flamenco world.

there are some cases where you alternate between i and m on the same string in some arpeggio falsetas but it's not picado.

i hope this video helps:

hi at leo 87,
hmm i see thanks, that helps me clear up things... but theres still somethings that bother me, if u dont mind i would lke to hear your opinion...
-when your playing an arpeggio, like u mentined, and you alternate between i and m on the same string, you always play tirando or you can choose between apoyando and tirando???
-do you recomend to alternate m and a on the same string in apoyando to exercise the a finger?
-when playing a rasgeado, or practicing a rasgueado exercise, is it correct to focus the ''hit'' on the 5th string( but not just hit the 5th string of course)??
- when exercising the thumb, should it be in apoyando or tirando, for example when playing tremolo, p plays tirando right??
- when exercising tremolo, is it ok to practice on p mama or p amam to strengthen the fingers???

sorry to bother with all this questions, but i really need to get things clear so that i can get a consistant training ... by the way thanks for the video, i'll try to keep the tips in mind....

it really depends on the falseta and the sound you want. sometimes, it's just two consecutive notes on the same string, so it may not be worth it to play apoyando. or it might be an arpeggio sequence followed by a multiple note melody. then maybe you want to play them apoyando.

-do you recomend to alternate m and a on the same string in apoyando to exercise the a finger?

if you mean practicing picado with other finger combinations other than I and M, i think it's a good idea. it helps strengthen the other fingers and may help your arpeggio.

-when playing a rasgeado, or practicing a rasgueado exercise, is it correct to focus the ''hit'' on the 5th string( but not just hit the 5th string of course)??

it depends on the rasgueado. sometimes you may actually rest your thumb on the 5th string instead of 6th to mute it. but in general, i hit all the strings but usually on the downstrokes, the basses get emphasized while the trebles get emphasized on the upstrokes.

- when exercising the thumb, should it be in apoyando or tirando, for example when playing tremolo, p plays tirando right??

imo, always apoyando! in flamenco, there's a lot of anchoring with the thumb. so apoyando always sets you up to be anchored. and the sound is more strong.

- when exercising tremolo, is it ok to practice on p mama or p amam to strengthen the fingers???

i've never done such exercises but i cant imagine it being harmful. i would focus on iami the most though obviously because that's the one you will be using outside of practice.
