The stiffnes of the soundboard is a very importand thing for the tightness of the strings.
How stiffer the soundboard how tighter the strings feel at the right hand.

I was just watching a video of Paco de Lucia... he plays 'picados' so far back along the strings that his little finger over the top of the bridge...
