Default Hello!

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and discovered it yesterday in my pursuit to find an online flamenco community. I have been playing the guitar for a while and have always been fascinated with the flamenco style.

Started learning the flamenco a few months ago through online videos and articles and this weekend, I attended a guitar masterclass at The New World Flamenco Festival in Irvine. It was amazing and almost a life changing event. I now find myself totally immersed and passionate about learning it. I see there are so many knowledgable and passionate people in this forum and I decided to register.

Thanks!

Who was the instructer of the guitar Master class and what did you think of the class?

Hi Falseta,

I also watched the show and It was amazing! I studied with Eugenio Iglesias. It was a great experience, most of all he was such a humble artist. He asked us what we wanted to learn and really made an effort to show us tips and techniques we could use for practice to play without tiring your arms (especially rasgueo). He really focused on how to play comfortably and what to do so the wrist is relaxed. Taught a few falsetas (Buleria, Alegria etc... and asked us to take out our recorders/cameras to record the falseta so we dont forget.

I did, however something terrible happened. I didnt realize my memory card was full and It didnt save the recordings. Bummer.

Overall, It was I think a life changing event that really shot up my motivation to learn and practice ( SLOWLY but surely )

Welcome to the forum, alonte. It's very enjoyable to hear from someone who is just now experiencing for the first time that overwhelming realization of the power of flamenco--like you said, a life changing event. It reminds me of my own similar realization back in college. Luckily today, because of things like this forum, it's much easier to get immersed and connect than it was back then.
