Hello,
I've been electric guitar for around 8 years and have finally started to learn flamenco. I am learning from "El Arte Flamenco De La Guitarra" and have been looking at the four stroke rasgueo section. I was wondering when playing a four stroke rasgueo on fewer than all six strings does the thumb move onto the string above to deaden unwanted strings, for example playing the highest four strings the thumb would sit on the A string or does it only ever sit on the E string and the rosette? It is probably a stupid question but after all these years playing electric I have no idea about right hand techniques. Any help would be much appreciated ![]() Cheers, Mark. |

The traditional way is to keep your thumb resting on the E 6 string and play the rasqueado on the other 5 or 4 strings. The modern trend is to hook your thumb on the E 6. Don't worry about muting any strings.
