I'm not going to be of much help, except to say it is possibly 3 pieces edited together. More than that, I can't pick the palos...

Yeah, it does sound "edited". Thanks, Black Sheep.

It starts out with more of a Spanish classical flavor or free form flamenco. It then goes into something sounding like Alegrias which is hard to follow because of all the percussion banging.

It turns out the music is from the soundtrack of "Bodas de Sangre", the first of Carlos Saura's Flamenco Trilogy of films. Too bad the soundtrack is out of distribution, I would have liked to listen to the rest of it.

There is software available (free ones too) that will let you rip the audio from a DVD (search google for "dvd to mp3").

I did this a couple years ago with Saura's Flamenco because I couldn't find the CD or get the full set of MP3s anywhere. Flamenco is essentially the same as any concert DVD with each DVD chapter being one song.

Default Anyone can help with this song?

I'm a newbie in the flamenco music and also in this forum (and I cannot post a new article... yet).
So I try from here.

It's 3 days I'm trying to find the title of this song in "Caravaggio" film by Derek Jarman. I felt so much inside that now I need to have it.

Thanks to that song, now I'm totally in love with flamenco songs.
Please help me.

You can find it in youtube, typing: Caravaggio Jarman, the part is 6/12 and the music starts at 4:12

If you can suggest me other songs like that, it would be very appreciated.

Ciao.

Hi Artemio,

Welcome here to the falsetaforum!

Beautiful song for that movie.
I think I cannot identify the exact singrer, but the first thing that popped into my mind was Nino de Marchena, you can hear him here:

YouTube - Niño de Marchena - La Rosa

"el Chocolate" Antonio Núñez Montoya. is also an old famous singer
You can see him here singing a seguiryas
.
YouTube - Flamenco_El Chocolate_ seguiriyas de manuel torres

also caracol is something in that way
YouTube - manolo caracol - 4 - 1º juerga flamenca en su casa 2º

Antonio Mairena
YouTube - antonio mairena por solea

Maybe somebody else can indentify the exact singer?
His sound is very familiar to me, maybe it is Nino de Marchena.??
This is an easyer link to the song...at 4:12
YouTube - Caravaggio 6/12

Artemius, the singer (cantaor) is the well-known non-Gypsy Niño de Almadén (Francisco Antolín Gallego), sometimes known as Jacinto Almadén. Almadén was an all-around singer, but was best known as an interpreter of cante andaluz. Your selection was probably recorded sometime in the 1950s or 1960s--I'm no authority on cante andaluz, but it might be a malagueña that he is singing, and, I agree, it's very nice indeed.

Aurelio
