Quick Poll: Do you use eBay at all to sell/purchase Flamenco related items. This may include shoes, dresses, guitars, books, dvd's, etc...
Myself I use eBay when looking for a great deal or really hard to find items. I have purchased several Flamenco related items and will continue to do so. I am usually very happy with the items I purchase and found the most important thing about eBay is to ask all your questions up front to the seller. A good seller has nothing to hide and if not replying personally usually has a dedicated person to respond about the item. Beware of the seller who does not reply to your questions or does not provide a complete answer. Look forward to your posts! |

I've bought CDs off ebay. That's very easy. But I bought my guitar off there as well. As I was buying from the luthier himself I figured it was worth the risk. And he seemed to have a long history. His son sells electronic bits and pieces and his wife sells Flamenco kitsch.
The guitar was a bit of a gamble but I landed it in Australia for less than half the price it was being offered in Australia. |

I like to look on ebay, but buying from out of europe is mostly too expensive.
together with the tax and postal costs, you can add +/_ 30% The dollar compesates a lot, but not all. We have european ebay, but it is not as popular as the lokal advertisement sites. |

I have been buying and selling on ebay since 98. Recent changes have made it so I can't wait to sell off my extra stuff so I can get off ebay. I buy with caution as I have been disappointed more than once.
The trouble is now no one wants to pay a fair price because of cost of shipping. Then as a seller there is ebay and paypal fees so you don't get all the bid. Also all the work listing it with good photos, etc., then packing it up and following through with feedback, etc. The bad economy hasn't helped either.

Frontera... a bad economy can flush out the od bargain on ebay as people clear the tops of wardrobes and the backs of cupboards to find a little extra cash...
But I agree changes have made things less desirable. |

I have never sold on ebay but from what you write it seems like things are not that great anymore. Can either of you share what has changed?

I agree with you about using eBay for hard to find items...I also used to sell quite a bit with them, but as is usual, the rules (I'm sure justified) kept piling up, new policies had to be enacted so as to justify the new employee's worth, etc., so as to make the process so difficult to traverse and make a buck, that I just got out and started using Craig's List. More scary, for sure, but easier to deal with if you watch your step. It always about

i like to buy things on ebay. you can get rediculously good deals if you know what you're doing. but you have to be careful and ask a lot of questions. ebay is actually where i bought my current guitar. i got a great deal on it but also had to do a lot of work to it too.
selling is kind of tough. everybody is looking for things that are dirt cheap, they expect it. chances are, you might not get a fair price for what you're selling. i've had more success with craigslist. |

I buy cheap strings for my cheap classical. You might try The Daniel Mari, but for a musician they're kind of expensive to buy regularly!
