Default Need some recomendations for new tunes

Hey everyone,

I am looking for a few new albums to add to my small, but growing collection. I have some Paco de Lucia, Paco Pena and Tomatito in my collection now. I have browsed the web for some recommendations but would like some recommendations if anyone is willing to give them out.

Thanks for any suggestions!

~Cody

Hey, there's a great guitarist from the US called Andy Culpepper, you can get his CD at CD Baby: ANDY CULPEPPER: Sol y Suelo

Besides that, get some Camarón so you can start appreciating the cante. Like "Rosa Maria" or any of the older ones with PdL. As far as guitarists, Gerardo Nunez is a another great modern guitarist, but I also recommend Ramon Montoya and Sabicas to see where it all came from.

I think you will enjoy these artists:

Check out Vicente Amigo, Duquende, La Tana (Tu Ven a Mi) and Jose Merce.

If you are into more of a "modern flamenco" sound check out Ojos de Brujo or Ketama.

Maybe you should try to find something about the artist that is playing this piece right here:

Don't know his name, nor the name of the song though. If there's someone that knows, that is also kind enough to inform us about this, please do.. i'd also be happy to find out more about this artist.

Hi CaVa,
welcome to th falseta forum!

This is "Asturias" by Isaac Albeniz.
Maybe played by John Williams.
It is a classical piece.

I still would also like to recommend Manuel Agujetas, the Fado singer though. His voice makes you think about big old wounds being ripped open as they were just starting to heal

Default new tunes

I guess it depends on what you like.

Paco Pena is a probably the greatest traditional flamenco guitarist, while Paco de Lucia is certainly the jazziest.

Paco de Lucia's Siroco and Cositas Buenas albums are really wonderful. If you like fusions try "indialucia" and Pepe Habichuela for indian tabla and flamenco fusions (I can send you some songs if you like), and for jazz and flamenco fusion I'd go for the trio Al Di Meola, John Mclaughlin and Paco de Lucia.
