I agree, the GK's have a truely amazing signature sound. Canut gets my vote for the haunting vocals on some tracks!

I have always used GK's music whenever I practice at home. Their music just gets along with all the different steps that I want to practice. Besides, I feel sexy dancing along GK....

I really don't dance too much, but I recently discovered a new Latin pop music group called La Quinta Estacion.
I have bought three of their CD's so far, and I don't even speak Spanish. Their music just seems to put a rhythm in my step... |

Dancing dancing and not flamenco dancing? I recommend Salsa. If you can dance to that stuff you can dance any latin style.
On a related note, Salsa, being a cuban style is directly related to rumbas. Most of the best Rumba Flamenca players incorporate some Salsa elements like Clave and Tumboa which gives their rumbas a multi layered sound. This is what makes the difference. I am sure a lot of guitar players have jammed rumbas with 2 or more guitars. It gets tired really quickly because it's just a lead over a rythmn. Gypsy Kings are real geniuses at having different players doing very different parts and the whole combination is what makes that big multi layered sound. Check out this page to get an idea of how it all fits together. There is a real cool simulator at the bottom of the page. (my apologies, the page sometimes freezes on my computer) Salsa Rhythm Stoney |
