Default Introductions From Burlington, North Carolina

I thought I would take a few moments to acquaint you with myself.

I am 51 years old as of this writing. I live with my wife of 23 years, my aged canine associate Jonah (15 year old Tibetan Terrier), and my wife's black and white cat named Domino. I am a working metal sculptor. My primary subject is replica medieval and renaissance armour.

In addition to my passion for my work I find time to garden and fish and hunt.
I am no stranger to working with wood and am in the process of building a fishing boat (16ft canoe).

I have always had somewhat of a passion for music. Both of my younger sisters became music teachers. I played woodwinds and guitar as a teenager and later took up with the fiddle. In learning the fiddle (mostly celtic music) I found I had to give up other musical pursuits. The muscle memory of the left hand was just too demanding to split time between it and other instruments.
At this point I feel I can split my time between the fiddle and guitar without detrimental effects ( I play both every day).

I always enjoyed and admired the passion of Flamenco. When I was young I played the guitar, but never tried Flamenco, it being alien to most other music genres technique wise. Upon taking up the guitar again last month, I decided that I would make the journey that seemed too daunting in my youth. So, here I am, no stranger to music and instruments, but a babe in the woods when it comes to Flamenco. I am hoping that through participation in this community I can learn from those who have traveled further down the Flamenco road, and perhaps avoid some of the pitfalls along the way.

Cheers, Tom

Hi Tom (from another Tom),

I'm new here also, been playing "at" flamenco for decades, but only the past year or so have I been devoting at least an hour a day. Congratulations on finding an alternative to bluegrass!
