Talking Hey everyone!

Hey guys and gals, my name is Cory, I am 16 years old and I live in Newmarket, Ontario Canada. I have being playing guitar for a total of 9 months, and I started playing Flamenco guitar in April. I started of learning Paco Pena's Rumba which was alot of fun, than I got really into Bulerias. Ever sense I started learning Bulerias I have been playing everyday for more than 5 hours a day, its amazing. And I am currently looking into buying a second-hand flamenco guitar. (used)

My teacher tells me I have a very good understanding of compas and I practice with the metronome regularly, although I find that playing with a metronome makes Bulerias sound more "Robotic", I much rather feel the music while I play.. But hey what are you going to do! So far the only thing that I have a great deal of trouble with is playing the falsetas with a metronome/palmas, I can play compas very well with the ticker/palmas but when it gets to the falsetas I can never keep it in time, I would appreciate it if someone can give me some suggestions with that !

Anyways, this is getting pretty lengthy, but I am very thankful I found such a website and I am looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi Cory,

Welcome to the forum!

Try to tap your feet with the metronome, and start with easy falseta's....

Thanks Payul! Will do! Do you recommend tapping your foot every beat, or accented beat? Perhaps something different?

You have my regards!

In the beginning I tap every beat, and practice very slow.

When I know the falseta I mostly tap in 3's ( tapping every beat is very fast in bulerias)

I think at the end most people tap in 3s * ^ ^ * ^ ^ * ^ ^

But tapping in 2's or the accented beat is as good, depends what you prefere.

Default Welcome

Hi Cory,

Glad to have you! Flamenco can be overwhelming. Try to take one simple falseta at a time. Once you master little pieces you will have a steady flow of that feeling of accomplishment.
