I'm 75 years old. Born and grew up in England. Began self-teaching myself flamenco guitar in the fifties from old 78's of Nino Ricardo, Luis Maravilla, and others. Went to Spain in 1958, had a few lessons (Soleares) from Manuel Bonet in Madrid. Bought a 1958 Jose Ramirez flamenco guitar for 4550 pesetas, from their old store on Calle Conception Jeronima. When I moved to Canada it cracked every winter.
Live in small town in Ontario. Run a fruit farm growing apples and pears. Great for breaking nails all the time! Haven't played seriously in a long time, but am starting to get interested again. Seems like many of the falsetas have changed a lot from the ones I remember. Would appreciate any help in learning some good variations on Seguiryas, Soleares, Alegrias, Fandangos de Huelva and Tarantas. Nice to meet you all here. |
