Default Thanks...

Thanks for the infos, but to be honest, this guy is terrible.

His videos are abysmal and don't really teach you anything. I'd steer clear of this stuff.

I think it's a good book. The exercises in it are very useful, and many teachers use it as a supplement to live instruction - Giuliani's arpeggios for example.

I agree with alatriste... the value is in the exercises and not so much in the video...

Default Agreed

Giuliani's arpeggi did wonders for me.

A lot of them are a pain in the ass to play, but think of them as tongue-twisters for your hands. Once you get them, the simpler arpeggi will become even easier.

The video content was okay once one gets past the production quality and the silly metaphor which I think was done just to keep us from getting bored. The clue here is that the title "pumping" was silly to begin with, as if one is lifting weights in the gym. But yes, it is the exercises that are the key and here I think the author did a great job in presenting them and in organizing them.

Exactly!

I am also looking at another book, "Keys to Flamenco" and I think it is another decent book to supplement live instruction. As an example the progression to learning Farrucas was quite nice. I have a nice collection of books now and find that each has something to offer, but nothing can really compete with live instruction. ¿Qué no?

Default Fyi

It is in fact Giuliani's Arpeggi. (Arpeggi is plural of Arpeggio).

But yes, live instruction truly is the best thing. Since it is difficult to find this, certain exercises are the next best thing.
