Three-Fingered Picado
I have a question: we use three fingers of the right hand to produce the tremolo technique -- why don't we tend to use the same three fingers of the right hand in to play picado/scales/falsetas? Why isn't this a more widely-used technique than it is?
I can play very rapid descending scales with the 3-finger a-m-i picado, quite a bit faster than when I use only the standard i-m technique. And I don't think the quality of the sound produced with the 3-finger technique is inferior.
I find that, because of string-crossing problems, ascending scales are a little more difficult, and the passages can end up sounding like triplets, which is a problem -- but it may be possible to overcome it..
Does anyone else in the forum use this technique? If not, why not?
