I've always had problems with barre chords. I recently began playing flamenco again after a lapse of a few years, and find I have real problems with dead notes because my index finger does not hold every string cleanly. And being much older now, my index finger flesh is not very firm, which dos not help.
Are there any devices or techniques that help players with soft flesh index fingers, crooked fingers, or similar problems, when holding barre chords? Do some players develop callouses along the index finger where it contacts the strings in a barre? Any comments anybody??? |

Hi Britguy,
I do not know of any device or callouses. But There s a thing you can do.... Put yout left index finger on a barré. then play the 6th string, and press while playing the 6th string the barre down, but keep your mind and power on the 6th string. Make sure for a clean sound. Andmake also sure you feel what is happening. Do it also with the 5th string, 4th, 3th and so on, and visa versa ( 1th, 2th, etc). This way you gain strength, and learn to play clean barré, also you can solve little problems. Hope this will help........ ![]() Payul |
