Default My Simple and Free Flamenco Metronome Software

I decided to make my own flamenco metronome software after seeing a youtube video of Graf Martinez metronome from the other thread to help me practice and thought maybe it could help some other beginners on these forums.

It is a very simple program. It lets you set the number of beats in your compas and then which beats are either accented, normal, or silent and then play it back at a tempo between 50 and 250. To set the beat type simply right click on the beat you wish to change.

Setting the beat type.

The metronome playing and highlighting the current beat.

Its can be downloaded here and it will need the Microsoft .NET 2.0 libraries to be installed for it to run. These should already be installed on most Windows XP and Windows Vista machines.

I have only really tested it briefly on two computers and it works mostly fine on them, the only issue I have encountered is that there is rare sound corruption when playing back the metronome click due to a bug in .NET SoundPlayer class.

I want to add saving and loading functionality so that compas don't have to be made from scratch each time. If there are any other simple features people would like I can try and put them in, I don't have a great deal of time to dedicate to it, but if I think I can get them in relatively quickly I'll have a shot.

Disclaimer: The program is as is, and I'm not responsible for any damage it does to your computer.

Cheers,
Mark.

WoW Mark!

What a symple and effective instrument you made!
Very usefull, and it works fine.

Maybe a suggestion to make the starting point at 10, so you can play a Buleria that starts at 12 and when you want to play a solea on 1 you can wait for 3 counts. ( Now you click the button from the computer and you have to be prepared to play the instand second or wait for 12 beats.
Just a idear...

Perfect!

Thanks a lot!

@Mark - Awesome! +Rep for providing great flamenco software! One suggestion though you may want to package the download in a zip file as anti-virus software may prevent downloading of exe's directly.

Thanks again Mark for a great contribution!

That's a great idea. I will add some functionality to select the starting beat of the compas tonight after work.

I've just finished added the ability to select a starting beat and also set a number of count in beats before the compas begins playing. I've updated the screenshots and link in the original post to the new version.

The starting beat is indicated by the underline under the beat number, and the number of count in beats is set just below the play and stop buttons.

Here is a link to zipped version.

Cheers.

I'm glad you like it Payul

I'm a computer programmer by profession so it hasn't taken me too long to put this together and I find it much more useful than a metronome as a flamenco beginner.

Also I could always use more time for practicing guitar, learning flamenco has really fired up my passion for guitar again!
