I just began my "formal" online lessons through this website, and so far, I am impressed by its quality of instruction. Indeed, it is going to be difficult, but I'm ready to tackle it... I think

It's good... I use it to supplement 'live' lessons... sure it's difficult, but nothing worth having is easy.

I was wondering how the lessons are going? I am considering starting lessons there.

I just started these lessons myself and purchased the Flamenco Beginner Package...
Wow, Adam delMonte, this guy is amazing! His lessons are extremely practical. He starts from the bare basics and builds up step by step. Some of the technique is hard for me to build habit of performing but I'm sure I'll get it. Of course, as a master he makes it seem easy... LOL |

It's very good for beginners... Use the packages identified as beginner material and progress slowly... don't leap ahead too far or you'll be overwhelmed.
When I started 12 moths ago, I thought I'd have a work book and at the end of a year, I'd know a half a dozen tunes in my 'grab bag' and we'd progress to more difficult stuff as we went. Flamenco isn't like that. There is no 'Little Brown Jug'. It's right in the deep end And Adam doesn't baby people along. You start at the centre and work your way out... you don't nibble your way in from the edges... Just take it slowly... |

Strangly, I've found that the lessons are a bit too advanced for me, but since I bought the beginner package, I still go back now and then to revisit. Coming from piano at an early age, I'm re-learning how to read notes, and how to go about locating them on the guitar now.. Most of my time has been spent learning triplets, resg., fast scales, and different strumming techniques rather than focusing on learning how to read music ~ shame on me, but the techniques mentioned above that I've been practicing sound pretty good (I think) already and I've only been at it a year and a half..
I'd really like to hook up with someone local to give me some tips on rumba flamenca. That said, I think that once I'm able to sight read, and know where the notes are on the fretboard, Adam's lessons will be more beneficial to me. He has put alot of time into them for sure. |
