First it was Paco de Lucia and his slightly more progressive style in Almoraima, but now I appreciate Paco Pena's traditional flamenco more. The feeling and passion is unbelievable as well as his technique. Try Fabulous Flamenco and Arte Y Pasion.
Gerardo Nunez is the most progressive flamenco player I've ever heard and he also happens to be techniquely brilliant as well. Camino a Cruces is my favorite by him. |

I of course heard Paco de Lucia's Entres Dos Aguas first but what really got me was when I heard Moraito's albums. I thought now this is something real and from the street. Not heavily polished. Not pretentious. Just soul music. Music that has a history and a style unlike any other. As I delved deeper into his recordings and heard him alongside the great singers then I knew that I was hearing something special.

I am listening to Moraito right now...
![]() Yea I dig Moraito for the same reasons, a bit rough but sounds like what I would hear at a real Juerga. My favorite is a tune called Rocayisa off the Morao Morao album.
