With so many new Flamenco DVD's coming out its hard to keep track of them all.
Right now I have three that are in or around my DVD player at all times. - Francisco Sanchez - Paco de Lucia - Blank y Negro - Diego el Cigala - Ketama - Herencia Flamenca What Flamenco DVD(s) are your favorite and or strongly recommend? |

I also love the works of Carlos Saura. "Flamenco" is a great one of his. Also, for guitar aficionados/players, etc. the series entitled "Rito y Geografia del Toque" is great. I think there are 4 DVD's in all, covering a range of guitarists and cantaores from traditional to modern, sometimes playing together. Great stuff...enjoy!!

I would be a fool to not say Petenera – un drama flamenco en música y baile because it is really unique (I can say so since I had the pleasure of directing and editing it), but I must admit there is a lesser known film somewhere out there on the market called Flamenco at 5:15 – a real must see!
If you can get your hands on it, go for it.

This cannot be Paco Peña, who is a very popular (and excellent) contemporary guitarist. What I heard reminded me of something like Edgar Nevilles 1952 documentary masterpiece Duende y Misterio del Flamenco, perhaps Fernanda or Bernarda de Utrera? Not sure, but you have to look into Spanish films of the 50s or 60s to find that. Hope this was a bit helpful, I'm sure there are specialists here who know better. :-)

I also do not know who the singer is, or the source from which the song comes. But we can rule out Fernanda or Bernarda de Utrera, without question: definitely not either sings this.
