hi everyone,
i think the best way for me (and i'm sure to everyone) to understand each rythm, is to listen a lot to songs. does anybody knows a cd that collect songs for each rythm? p.s how was the show of paco pena???? |

Liat, you can see my review of the Paco Peņa show under the "Would You Shred?" thread. I was not thrilled by its flamenco-ness--it was entertainment for the masses who know nothing of flamenco.

There's a series of albums called "solo compas" that dedicate
a whole CD to each palo. Some have more than one, and there are a couple of 'various' disks that combine different palos. The handy thing is that these albums will often start with a palo with guitar, palmas, singing, and sometimes dancing. As you go through the tracks, you get the same palo, but a part is removed. The last version will usually be just palmas and or percussion. |

It may be worth taking a look at nylonguitarist "dot" c o m . you have to sign up for a free membership, but once you do you can download two free cd's that might be just what you are looking for. One is a Flamenco Dance Rhythms cd that has about a dozen different flamenco styles both in slow and fast versions, plus it has three different 12 counts in both slow and fast, plus a "study in C". The second cd is called Buleria Brainwaves and is strictly the Buleria compas with background "white noise" I listened to that cd as I went to sleep last night and then much of this morning - I have the Buleria compas so drilled into me by now that I had to quit for fear that my heart would start beating a buleria compas lol. The owner of the site, Sal, seems like a pretty neat guy and he has a lot of good stuff on his site.

Thanks for picking up on this payul. I see you also posted a handy link. Was hesitant to do so myself because many forums dont allow links. Hmm maybe I should try reading the rules for a change lol.
