I have been a belly dancer for over 30 years. I have done some Spanish/bellydance fusion. I have taken some flamenco classes and workshops and, with some friends, have formed a flamenco club. We get together about once a month and we are learning from videos. There is just not too much offered in the Syracuse area.
I do more sewing of flamenco and Mid Eastern costumes than dancing and love it. Check out my website.

I am a purest in the dance forms and hope that flamenco stay pure and does not go the way that Mid Eastern dance went. That is, just put on a belly dance costume or a black undecorated bra with black work out pants and a hip scarf, do your hip-hop, jazz or what ever routine and call it belly dance. Unfortunately you can go to a belly dance show now and not see one performance that is belly dance.
So, yes I am a dancer, but you won't see me out dancing flamenco until I can look and dance like a flamenco dancer. I will continue to love Flamenco and appreciate all the hard work it takes.
