Exclamation Introduction: Tell us about yourselves!

** UPDATE **
** PLEASE READ **
************************************************** ****************************************
Please create a new post to introduce yourself and tell us about your skills, talents and interest. Below you can read introductions from some of the very first people who joined. Instead of having one giant thread for introductions I have closed this thread and decided it would be better to have everyone create a new post in order to introduce themselves.

Hello Everone,

Several years ago I used to play Latin Jazz guitar music at coffee shops, clubs and bars. Mostly playing Gipsy Kings cover tunes I became more and more interested in a different sound. I decided to start this website falseta.com to help meet people from around the world who shared the same interest in this music and culture called Flamenco.

Starting out as a simple forum Falseta.com grew into a site visited by friends all over the world looking to learn and share the Flamenco experience.

Basically when I log in, I hope to see a bunch of friends out there as that makes things more fun in here.

So Please introduce yourself if you're new here or even if your an old timer and want to introduce yourself to the newer crowd. This is a good time for the lurkers to step up as well.

So now let me introduce myself:
My name is Cesar Serna and I play guitar. As I mentioned above I started several years ago playing Gipsy Kings music at coffee houses, festivals and clubs.

After several years of not playing at all I am now attempting to get back into performing.

Thats all from me for now, more to come later.

How about telling us about yourself?

This octomber i started also flamenco classes to learn how to dance flamenco an also to play castanets but this march i stopped due to economic reasons. maybe i will start this octomber again and somewhere else because my techer wasnt care much if we know or not and i was losing some steps and i was confusing so or i will change or i will buy some dvd from internet. i have already bought " Las Castanuelas" in due to play good castanets and when i forgot sth to go back and see...Also i really love spanish language and maybe the nextv years i will do some lessons .i already speak english and italian so spanish will not take a long time. and so i will be able then to watch some seminars maybe about castanets in spain.... That was me!!! if anyone knows anything about castanets just tell me....Gracias!!!!

I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, but I grew up in California and have lived in Japan and Spain. Don Quijote does have dancing every Sunday night. Two of the family members are dancers. What is your MySpace address?

I have developed a rich man's taste for expensive wine and the finer things.

Unfortunately, I play flamenco guitar for a living, so I'm fairly sober most of the time.

I drive a car so hideous, valets wont take it, my girlfriend wont ride in it, and I get a fabulous police escort out of the fine neighborhoods some of my gigs are in.

My nails are prettier than your mom's.

I have been accompanying cante y baile for over 12 years in fine tablaos and theaters all over California, and I still love to play Sevillanas and Rumbas (seriously, I do).

I was once given the flamenco nickname of "La Maderita" by cantaor Antonio de Jerez, but I refused to be called "Little Wood", because it's just not true.

My name is Benjamin Woods, and I just moved to LA from the bay area. Yes, I'm that guy who created the band "FLAMETAL"(flamenco meets metal)
Welcome to Flametal

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and to mark your calendars for two shows I'm putting on. The first is with my band FLAMETAL on AUG.2nd, at Bar Sinister in Hollywood. (it is a crazy gothic/fetish club, with a dress code, absinth, a whipping room, etc.) Flamenco dancing with us that night will be Arleen Hurtado and Mizuho Sato.
The second show(flyer below) is my production of "FOREVER FLAMENCO" at the Fountain theatre on Sunday, August 3rd. With Jesus Montoya, Richard Chavez, Arleen Hurtado, and the entire FLAMETAL band.

Hello, all, and greetings from South Africa!

I live in Pretoria and work as a graphic designer, devoting what spare time I have to video games and playing and practicing the guitar. I've been playing the guitar for just over a year now, and I'm particularly fond of acoustic sounds, especially classical guitar and flamenco, but I listen to all kinds of music from Lain Jazz to Metal.

Despite being born and bred South African, I'm in love with Latin culture in general, and I would love to make a pilgrimage to Spain and South America some day.

Some of my favourite artists: Paco de Lucia, Paco Peņa, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Al di Meola, Michel Camilo, Michael Manring, Pat Metheny, Deep Forest and Sting.

I joined this forum to gain some insight on traditional flamenco techniques, and of course to meet people of like mind.

Yes, welcome. I play tennis with a guy from South Africa, and he's told me a lot about it. He goes back several times a year for marathons, one of which is over 50 miles. Plus I've seen the Globetrekker series on South Africa. You live in a fascinating place.
