Hi all,

I'm a thirtysomething yr old guy from the northeast who can't find any flamenco in CT. I've been playing guitar for longer than I care to admit given my level of playing. Right in the beginning, I dove in and did take some flamenco lessons but ended up realizing I was in over my head. In any case, that instructor isn't available anymore so I've been left to my own devices.

Oh, I also took some lessons in Sevilla this past summer, at Taller Flamenco. I didn't really expect any revelations (and I didn't find any), but I was in it more for the overall experience. I did enjoy myself, but it did sort of reinforce the notion that this kind of stuff is difficult for me. Tragically, I had made some recordings on my phone, but the memory card in my phone crapped out and I lost them!

I do hope to participate in the forums here, if only to try and glean some sort of guidance from all those who have gone before me.

So, that's my story. I think I'll browse a bit now.

welcome dave! there may not be any flamenco in CT but there might be some in rhode island and definitely in MA and New York.

as for not having a real life teacher, there's a bunch of great resources online. as well as people who teach through skype.
which works really well. and it's physically impossible to whack somebody on the hand with a ruler if they make a mistake. great for student, bad for teacher.
