Hi all,
I'm a thirtysomething yr old guy from the northeast who can't find any flamenco in CT. I've been playing guitar for longer than I care to admit given my level of playing. Right in the beginning, I dove in and did take some flamenco lessons but ended up realizing I was in over my head. In any case, that instructor isn't available anymore so I've been left to my own devices. Oh, I also took some lessons in Sevilla this past summer, at Taller Flamenco. I didn't really expect any revelations (and I didn't find any), but I was in it more for the overall experience. I did enjoy myself, but it did sort of reinforce the notion that this kind of stuff is difficult for me. Tragically, I had made some recordings on my phone, but the memory card in my phone crapped out and I lost them! I do hope to participate in the forums here, if only to try and glean some sort of guidance from all those who have gone before me. So, that's my story. I think I'll browse a bit now. |

welcome dave! there may not be any flamenco in CT but there might be some in rhode island and definitely in MA and New York.
as for not having a real life teacher, there's a bunch of great resources online. as well as people who teach through skype. which works really well. and it's physically impossible to whack somebody on the hand with a ruler if they make a mistake. great for student, bad for teacher. ![]()
