hello, my name is marduk. I am a guitar player, who has started learning to play flamenco. I am completely addicted to Flamenco, and have goals of being good enough with my guitar to get opportunitites to accompany great singers and dancers.
I have been learning flamenco for about a year, I study with teachers here in Adelaide Australia, and also study online. I have started playing at dance classes recently and am learning heaps from the experience, I would love to meet more dancers and singers on here I am pretty busy with another forum that I help run, But I plan to be here pretty often |

Helllloooo Marduk;
Congratulations, playing at dance classes is the fastest way to learn Flamenco guitar. Remember that the dancer rules the compas - the guitar is only an accompaniment. Do not attempt to overpower the compas when playing for dancers. (follow the dancer) When the singer starts singing, the singer rules the compas, that's why he claps the compas before he starts singing and by all means learn to take second place to the singer - subdue your playing - allowing the singer to excell in all his glory. Once you have mastered this you can occasionally show off with your falcetas. (dancers don't care for falcetas - they prefer a steady compas in the rythm of the dance number. good luck Juan Manuel Sandoval TEXAS USA |
