i grew up in a flamenco family...........
i really enjoy writing original music, especially for flamenco guitar.
But also for 7 and 10-string classical guitar.

Hi- Im Ryan from Dallas and I just registered today.
I've played guitar in general for 20 years and have a degree in
classical guitar (10 years ago). I learned some flamenco in
school, but really got bitten by the bug a couple months ago.
I saw a great live show and shortly afterwards read a great
book called "The Flamenco Academy". Both really inspired me.
I've been practicing like crazy and am going to have a
flamenco guitar lesson tomorrow.

Hi all. First, I must admit.. I've got an addiction to Flamenco music! I have had zero formal training on the guitar, and am just learning the notes and a few chords. My first guitar that I've played on for about six years is getting replaced with an "official" student flamenco one very soon. I'm a huge fan of Jesse Cook, and of course, the Gipsy Kings - among others. That said, this style of music is all I listen to for the past 12 years, and I have been "messing" around with attempting to learn the various strumming patterns used by the GK's as of lately. I'm finding that I am a fairly quick learner with regards to the special technique of flamenco, and hope to build on that with some formal online lessons in the near future once I can sight read music better. I don't want to cheat myself by just learning tab.. I sure wish there were some "intro" teachers, or just people to hang out with and learn from around here. I have seen Peter Baime perform, (Milwaukee, WI) and he's awesome for sure.
My screen name reflects my passion for rumba flamenca, but I also enjoy Tarantas as well. I've learned what I have so far from a Juan Serrano book/CD and various YouTube instructional videos - which I take with a grain of salt with regards to correct technique. However, I will say that the http://www.falseta.com/forum/new-mem...ningvision.com site is excellent from what I can gather, but I'm not sure if it's geared towards an absolute beginner or not. Sorry for the rambling - looking forward to some guidance from some of you with a common interest in the flamenco guitar!
