Flamenco Ayer Y Hoy at Orcas Center

On November 20, 2010, Orcas Center will be the venue of another flamenco show, Flamenco Rosario, which is set to perform Flamenco Ayer Y Hoy.  The show starts 7:30 p.m. The visiting artists will be presenting two flamenco workshops simultaneously, the dance and the guitar  at 10 a.m.

Directed by one of the most respected flamenco artists in Western Canada, Rosario Ancer, Flamenco Rosario, based in Vancouver, BC, is co directed by Victor Kolstee, also an acclaimed guitarist.  The duo recently toured Mexico and had performed to sold out houses all throughout Canada along with their company members of dancers and singer.

Flamenco is a collaborative form of art between the singer, dancer and the guitarist.  It has evolved tremendously over the past years.  It used to be a family entertainment which was shared by all, danced at social gatherings in the Andalucia, a southern portion of Spain.

Although it has generally remained in this same informal form, it has become more than just a performance once shared at Andalucia, it is now being enjoyed on stage around the world and with all special effects.

Flamenco Ayer Y Hoy will be presenting the history of Flamenco in a performance with canté and 5 dancers. Enthusiast can witness this spectacle live at Orcas Center.
