Paco Pena will be performing at the Southbank Centre on September 8 2007. Paco is performing “Requiem for the Earth” with a flamenco troupe and solo dancer.
As described on the site:
Two choirs, a flamenco troupe and a solo dancer: Paco Pena’s Requiem for the Earth combines the heat and fire of flamenco with the passionate incantations of a Southern Spanish Requiem mass in an epic lament for our planet. The virtuoso flamenco guitarist has assembled a company of guitars, singers, percussionists and a dancer from Southern Spain who join forces with 100 choristers from the UK. The driving flamenco rhythms, dark harmonies and soulful vocals of true flamenco combine beautifully with the expressive choral music to provide a thrilling and moving evening which, ultimately, lifts the spirits in a surprising and optimistic ending.
Paco Pena performs his bewitching solo flamenco guitar music in the first half of the programme.
