Aguadulce Tomatito

Agua Dulce Tomatito

Tomatito released an album called Aguadulce in mid 2004 and three years later it has come across my desk. What a magnificent collection of orginal and inspiring music. Each composition is carefully detailed and no note is taken for granted.

Most of time when I listen to bulerias, tangos etc… I hear players who are obsessed with speed and power forgetting that this is an opportunity to show there talent instead of power strumming through the chords or perhaps they are masking there inabilities as a guitar player. Each song on this album is so densely packed with individual notes yet each song does not loose the great groove and flow accomplished by master guitarist such as Tomatito.

One of many great things I am sure about being Tomatito is that there is no shortage of great singers when recording an album. Potito lends his talent to En Casa del Herrero and Diego el Cigala sings in Gallibando.

The easy favorite on Aguadulce is a song featuring Mari Ángeles Fernández Torres. That’s right! Tomatito’s very own daughter steals the spotlight from dad in the Tangos “Donde Esta Tu Carino?”. Another song that was an instant favorite was Pa Salinas which along with Donde Esta Tu Carino? became regularly played songs in the office and the iPod.

If you do not yet have this album and are looking for a great collection of Flamenco music you will not be disappointed with Aguadulce by Tomatito.
