The Good:
Everything… Great concert footage and tons of extras. Its still in my DVD player. And gets our highest rating yet….
The Bad:
I didn’t get this DVD sooner.
Overall Rating: 9
For those who have not yet experienced Ojos de Brujo I cannot think of a better way than to watch this DVD, sit down and hold on for the ride of your life. From self admission they are not Flamenco or even attempt to be. They carry several elements to there music because of the varied influences of each member including Grandmaster Flash, Camaron de la Isla and others. This unlikely unity of enormous talent leads to the amazing sound and energy created by Ojos de Brujo.
The EXTRAS on this DVD are awesome. Those of you responsible for making DVD’s for artist take note of this production. I have griped about this many times before but I will mention it again as I feel this DVD makes my point very clear. People want and need to see more than just the concert when they pay money for a DVD. Nothing gives you a clearer impression of the performers as Artist, Musicians and more importantly as People than the footage acquired outside of the venue.
The members of Ojos de Brujo do not disappoint as they have packed this DVD with tons of extra footage. They invite you in and share so much about themselves from candid conversation of political beliefs and issues, creating graffiti murals also live and private performances.
Final Thoughts:
Ojos de Brujo has got a busy schedule ahead as the demand for there music and performances will only grow. It’s amazing how the globalization of musical influences are impacting and creating new forms and styles of music.
