@Blacksheep thanks for all these videos . . . great stuff! especially the dueling banjos paco and the hilarious julian bream, which made me think of Narcisco Yepes criticism of PdL's versión of “Concierto de Aranjuez”: “Es terrible. No se puede soportar. Paco de Lucía, que es un guitarrista flamenco fenomenal, no tiene técnica para tocar ese concierto. Es un sonido tan horrible, tan feo, tan pequeñito, tan fuera de lugar que es una lástima que se lo hayan hecho estudiar. Una verdadera pena.”

The Classical world edit out passion. Paco's 'Aranjuez' is the best I have heard. I have about 5 or 6 versions and that is the most expressive, emotional, engaging one I have.

Great technique nearly at the end (about 4.00) - looks like a cross between rasgueado and tremolo?

I think that was just the maestro's unique rasgueado technique (played on the higher strings). He never rested his thumb for rasgueados, as this would inhibit his ability to rasgueo up and down the neck.

Interesting! That's very like a technique I developed when I began playing rasgueado (with my thumb in the air - and I must say I found it much more natural and uninhibited than the thumb glued to the E string).

Recently I've been experimenting with a continuous rasgueado on just the top E to create a tremolo effect - leaving the thumb free to just add bass notes as and when needed.

This isn't one of the greats, but I do enjoy this one:

I learned his intro for my own Fandangos since I liked it so much
