Listening to Steve Kahn--Flamenco de la Frontera. See Steve Kahn -- Flamenco Guitarist for a very interesting website. I e-mailed Steve to thank him for the music and he replied from Jerez where he is hanging out with David Serva and Brook Zern!

Yes Steve is a great guy and flamenco guitarist. I have played his CD many times. My favorites are the Cante by Marysol with Steves accompanyment. I think Steve is headed up to Moron in a few days for the July 25 annual celebration.
Today I listened most to Melchor de Marchena, "Grandes Guitarras del Flamenco."

Default Flamenco on MySpace

For those that aren't aware of it, there is a lot of great flamenco on MySpace. MySpace has become a vibrant online music community for all types of music, and flamenco is no exception. Just go to MySpace and search on "flamenco".

I have met a lot of new flamenco friends on MySpace that I never would have known about otherwise. I listen to their music, they listen to mine. It's great.

Not only that, many of the major artists have sites as well, and you can sent messages to them. As an example, I saw that one of favorites from the late sixties, Juan Serrano, has a MySpace site. With a few clicks I was able to listen to some of his current recordings, read a summary of what he's been up to for the last forty years, and send him a message of thanks for being an early inspiration to me! Same with Angel Romero.

These are typical experiences on MySpace once you get into it. And since I have eclectic musical tastes, I now have musical friends in all genres from all over the world. I frequently get messages from places like Italy and Thailand, saying they saw my site on MySpace.

It's kind of addicting really. (And it certainly helps to be retired.)

Hate to say it... but save your money... Dos Lagrimas was not even close to Lagrimas Negras... Just didnt have the same feeling or magic to the tracks...

Good example of why I vastly prefer Rhapsody to iTunes. If I had to pay for every song I sampled on Rhapsody, I'd go broke in a few months. It's about $10 per month for unlimited play, a little more if you want to be able to transfer tracks to your mobile device.

La Vida Esta de Lujo - Navajita Platea
El Beso - Rosario

Default Great little podcast....

What's on my mp3 player? I'm just listening to a podcast from Yale Radio. It's called 'Flamenco and Arabic Pop' by Adam Solomon. Lot's of cool tracks by Emilio Maya, Manolo Sanlucar, Enrique Morente, Paco de Lucia, Paco Pena etc... And a terrific Indian/Flamenco fusion group 'India Lucia'.
