Three cultures inhabited Spain in the 12th-15th centuries, each making an indelible impression on the region’s art and music. They lived in harmony until the expulsion of the Jews and Gitanos in 1492.
Souls on Fire will present the similarities, differences and the nexus of all three styles through text: Spanish, Ladino, and Arabic and through music that will take the audience on a sonic journey through the passion of Flamenco, the poetry of Sephardic and the rhythmic pulse of the Moorish.
A world-class ensemble of musicians – each renowned in their own right – will combine the traditional sounds from the Golden Age of Spain with original compositions melding all three musical styles with virtuosic improvisation. Emotive vocals, flamenco dance and guitar, world-beat percussion and evocative violin and bass make this show a must see.
Join us for a musical exploration of Spanish, Ladino & Arabic culture that will take you on a sonic journey through the passion of Flamenco, the poetry of Sephardic culture and the rhythm of the Moorish. A world-class ensemble, each renowned in their own right, will combine the traditional sounds from Spain’s Golden Age.
