Losing source code is never fun. Look forward to using the new release!

Before I get cracking I was wondering what ideas people had on how it should work? Did people like the current design? Anything missing (eg. a double time option for contratiempos)?

Since I'm starting for scratch I'm happy to go anywhere with this so share all your ideas no matter how different they are from the original.

at_leo_87 that is a strange error. You could try re-downloading the executable incase it became corrupted. The only other thing I can suggest is updating your .NET framework if there are any updates available. Windows update should be able to do this for you.

Cheers,
Mark.
For contratiempos to work the way it is now, we need to be able to manually set double the current highest bpm (or higher for complex patterns...).
Otherwise, the way to do it might be to have the bpm remain the same, but allow us to put ands between the numbers. (e.g. 1 & 2 & 3 & 4...)
If we look at it from the clock analogy, I guess it would be like adding minutes (which might be necessary if you wanted to get really complicated and make a pattern with triplets). &s or minutes should default to silent. I don't know how many minutes should be allowable, as I've never heard of anything more complicated than a triplet pattern.

Dropdown - Hours (beats in compas)
_Dropdown - Starting Beat
Dropdown - Minutes (&s between beats)

If you used the minutes concept, the hours would be on the normal beats and the minutes play between. This way, the tempo/bpm can remain accurate.

Saving:

We definitely need the ability to save pre-set compas patterns that also remembers the sound files.

Maybe we could select a preset from a drop-down list?

Beside that a button to save and another button to load a preset?
If we can save presets to a preset folder (located maybe in My Documents or a subdirectory within the executable directory), where it simply adds any presets found in the folder to the dropdown list when the program starts, there's no need to have a load button... and we can share

The ability to change the default accented/normal sounds would be nice. If you bundle in the audio files I emailed you into the executable it might not be too hard.

General usability:

Maybe more default sounds? e.g. Normal, Silent, Accent 1, Accent 2, Accent 3. Or the ability to add to the default sounds in the context menu and name them... Or submenu in the context menu that lists the (included?) audio files... It could work similar to the saved presets suggestion above.

If it would not be too much trouble, it could come with a set of presets. (Would that be a preset set of presets? Maybe just a pre-defined set...)
Anyway, if you want to include some, or just for users to reference to build their own presets here's some tables:
Palmas Flamencas

For the lead-in... Could it show a countdown in the middle of the clock as it sounds?

Maybe a help file/menu?

Cosmetic:

Perhaps the clock numbers that are accented could flash a colour highlighted circle around/behind them instead of just bold/larger sized number? Not all numbers, just the accented numbers. Unaccented would be fine if they bold as they are marked/played.

Maybe silly, but would it be possible to have a toggle that would blank/black out the rest of the screen so that the clock could stand out and be easy to see with no distractions?

After all that, it would probably be perfect and you should add an 'About' thing-a-mabob givng yourself credit and a paypal link for donations or a link to a guestbook for people to say "thanx.".

As it is, for the excellent price and current functionality, I'm not complaining at all.

Cool, thanks for all the awesome suggestions. I'm going to come up with a screen design based on the input and put it up for some feedback.

I've also started a sourceforge project to make it easier to keep track of revisions - Flamenco Metronome. Nothing up there at the moment, but hopefully will be soon

Cheers,
Mark

The slider next to the 'Tempo' label controls the playback speed. The value displayed is in bpm.

I've been doing a little work on this over the last couple of days. I'm working on saving/loading compass files. Hopefully I will have a working version with some new features in a week or two.

Cheers,
Mark
